Job Summary:

The Associate Driver Trainee will assist designated driver trainers with their deliveries and routes, while learning and gaining experience in hauling freight and operating tractor trailers. This is an entry-level driver training role that requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist driver trainers with deliveries and routes
  • Learn and gain experience in hauling freight and operating tractor trailers
  • Perform pre- and post-trip safety checks
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards
  • Report any safety issues or repairs required
  • Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items and verify delivery with customers
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required and load customer returns onto the trailer
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  • 0-6 months of experience (internal PFG candidates) or 0-6 months experience (external driver school direct hire)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6-12 months commercial driving experience within foodservice industry
  • Foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet)
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e. POD)
