Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher to join our educational team at the Jay Early Learning Center. This role involves working collaboratively with a Lead Teacher to deliver high-quality preschool education in a supportive environment. The position is structured for 40 hours per week and aligns with a traditional school year calendar.

Compensation
  • Hourly Wage: $18.00-$19.75 based on qualifications and experience
  • Eligibility for a monthly wage supplement through the State of Maine Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program, with tiers of $240, $360, or $540.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Lead Teacher to enhance preschool programming quality.
  • Design and implement activities tailored to foster children's social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive growth.
  • Engage with families to support their children's developmental needs.

Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required, with a commitment to pursue an agency-sponsored Child Development Associate credential or relevant college coursework leading to an Associate degree within two years of hire.
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
Additional Requirements

Experience in early childhood education is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, possess excellent communication skills, and have the physical stamina to engage in active teaching. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Candidates must also be able to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Background checks, including physical, SBI, DMV, and fingerprinting, are mandatory upon job offer.
