About the Role

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate MRI Equipment: Select and operate magnetic resonance systems, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Ensure Patient Safety: Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
  • Position Patients: Properly position patients on the MRI scanning cradle to obtain desired anatomic positions.
  • Administer Contrast Agents: Administer magnetic contrast agents specific to procedures and perform IV injections.
  • Image Manipulation: Manipulate images using a wide variety of available computer functions to optimally visualize desired anatomy.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance tests as specified by department protocol and maintain clinical competency.
  • Patient Care: Evaluate patients, verify patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedures are performed.
  • Education and Training: Participate in the education and instruction of students and the orientation of new staff.
  • Performance Improvement: Participate in performance improvement projects and assist the department in achieving successful results in all federal, state, and local agency audits.
Requirements
  • Certification and Registration: Certification and registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) is required.
  • Licensure: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association certification is preferred.
  • Education: An Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute is preferred.
  • Experience: One year of experience in an MRI department in a hospital setting is preferred.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. You may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, high noise levels, and bright lights. You will also be required to work independently and make logical conclusions to ensure patient safety and quality care.
