Job Title: Registered Nurse - Corrections

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. As a Corrections Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare to offenders at our facilities.

Job Summary:

The Corrections Nurse is responsible for the 24-hour healthcare of offenders at their assigned institution. Duties may vary based on area of assignment, but may include conducting physical assessments, establishing nursing diagnoses, and referring offenders to a practitioner. You will also provide medication and treatment as ordered, monitor medication compliance, and provide health-related education to staff and offenders.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct physical assessments and establish nursing diagnoses for offenders
  • Provide medication and treatment as ordered by a practitioner
  • Monitor medication compliance and observe the effectiveness of medication
  • Provide health-related education to staff and offenders
  • Maintain department compliance for inspections
Requirements:
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • Current, valid PA Registered Nurse license or temporary practice permit
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
