Job Summary

Munising Memorial Hospital Association is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect patient care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general needs of patients. You will communicate with physicians and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. You will maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing, and hospital policies, procedures, and standards. You will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Essential Functions
  • Institute and revise the plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
  • Use the triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients.
  • Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques. Educate the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret results.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and treats appropriately.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
  • Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
  • Follow the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors.
  • Prepare, hang, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids.
  • Maintain accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
  • Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate an ability to assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform treatments and provide services to level licensure.
  • Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Function as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Interact professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse license for the State of Michigan.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • ACLS certified within three (3) months of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred.
