Key Responsibilities:

  • The lead nurse ensures the delivery of safe and effective patient care during off-hours, weekends, and holidays in the absence of senior management.
  • Responsibilities include assessing all departments to ensure continuity of care and communicating relevant information to management.
  • The lead nurse is tasked with effectively reporting unusual incidents or complaints and intervening promptly when necessary.
  • Ensures that nursing staff executes all aspects of patient care in a manner that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of healthcare errors.
  • Monitors appropriate documentation practices, including medical necessity, and oversees updates to the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
  • Assists in reviewing and analyzing risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction metrics, and outcomes to enhance performance and results; shares findings with the nursing team.
  • Ensures that nursing staff receive education and training on Quality Indicators (QIs) and that timely and accurate QI assessments are conducted.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current licensure in the state; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a rehabilitation or acute care setting, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and lead clinical personnel; effective communication skills in English, with proficiency in additional languages preferred; basic computer skills are essential.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
