Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Infusion RN to join our team at Rush University Medical Center. As an Infusion RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and education to patients with multiple sclerosis and other complex conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the collection of data to support unit-based quality initiatives, research, and evidence-based activities.
  • Utilize system-wide resources to support decision-making and action, recognizing patterns and groupings of problems in a specific patient population that require investigation and initiating actions to address.
  • Communicate current evidence-based information with peers.
  • Establish a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness, and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate consistently and effectively with other disciplines and services to meet the needs of patients/families.
  • Utilize competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired from previous clinical experiences, recognizing changes in patient status and consistently responding effectively.
  • Demonstrate accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications.
  • Assess patient safety needs consistently and implement appropriate strategies to minimize risk.
  • Individualize teaching plans based on a thorough assessment to meet the learning needs of patients and families.
  • Demonstrate beginning leadership skills related to patient care, delegating effectively and consistently to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide infusion support, including biologics and supportive medications, and continue to contribute to a positive patient outcome by providing expert assistance with critical procedures for patients.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and provide extensive patient/family education.
  • Provide guidance and support and direct workflow of clinical staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current State of Illinois licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • At least one year of nursing experience required.
  • Current Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification OR the ability to obtain the Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within six months of hire/transfer date may be required for some departments.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Epic/EMR experience.
Preferred Experience
  • National certification preferred.
