About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic mammography exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient results.
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records to ensure appropriateness of exams or procedures.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors, including medications, pregnancy, and psychological indicators.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up instructions.
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script, reviewing images, making initial observations, documenting exceptions, and communicating data to radiologists.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate, providing physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
  • Able to take call/standby as required by the department, and may perform duties of a Radiologic Technologist as needed.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Mammography (M).
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
  • Skills required include analytical and clinical skills, interpersonal and communication skills, technical knowledge, ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, and knowledge of American College of Radiology and MQSA requirements for accreditation.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients, as well as manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate and utilize imaging equipment and supplies.
