Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily custodial tasks, including emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows, dusting furniture, and cleaning vents, fans, and walls.
  • Sanitize facilities, including restrooms, kitchen and food areas, and cafeterias, to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Operate heavy custodial equipment, such as mopping, stripping, waxing, and floor buffing machines, to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of our facilities.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Use chemicals and cleaners safely and productively, following established protocols and regulations to ensure personal, student, public, and staff safety.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills, broken windows, and broken locks, to confine, resolve, or prevent injurious or hazardous conditions.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or using hand trucks.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred, supplemented by any previous experience demonstrating ability to safely and effectively operate standard facility custodial equipment and fulfill the physical requirements of the work.
  • Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language.
Working Conditions

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 15 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials 30 pounds.
