About the Role
As a Surgical Care Unit RN Resident at Johnston-Willis Hospital, you will be part of our Nurse Residency Program designed to provide hands-on experience and establish valuable clinical and critical thinking skills.
The role involves coordinating and delivering high-quality patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and nursing standards. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, you will provide individualized comprehensive care using established nursing models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures and monitoring as ordered by medical providers, documenting care in patient records.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, and notify providers when necessary.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and anticipating their needs.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
