Confined Space Entry Monitor Job Description

At Quala, we're seeking a highly skilled and safety-oriented individual to join our team as a Confined Space Entry Monitor. This critical role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and protect entrants in confined spaces, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Perform fire watch duties, including external fire watch for hotwork operations.
  • Remain outside the permit space during entry operations, unless relieved by another authorized attendant.
  • Identify and mitigate existing and potential hazards, including information on mode of exposure, signs or symptoms, consequences, and physiological effects.
  • Maintain communication with entrants through verbal communication, clearly communicated signals, or radio.
  • Post permits at or near the point of entry and keep accurate records of workers entering or exiting the permit space.
  • Ensure ventilation is in use and remains functional throughout the entry.
  • Verify entrants have completed and documented pre-entry meter readings.
  • Verify entrants are wearing all required PPE, including a harness connected to a Rescue Self-Retracting Lifeline (RSRL) or mechanical rescue device.
  • Perform non-entry rescue using RSRL or mechanical rescue device.
  • Summon rescue and other services during emergencies.
  • Order evacuation of the permit space under certain circumstances.
  • Prevent unauthorized people from entering permit spaces.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Safety-oriented with the ability to identify and eliminate hazards and unsafe work practices.
Work Environment:

The performance of this position will require exposure to shop areas, which all require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.

Ambient temperatures, typical shop lighting, and mechanical equipment are generally present throughout the shop.

Will be working at times in a covered or outside environment.
