Job Summary:The Certified Nursing Assistant will provide prescribed personal care services to residents under the direction of the unit nurse. This includes performing tub baths, showers, or bed baths, ensuring proper oral hygiene, and assisting with dressing and grooming. The successful candidate will also be responsible for documenting food and liquid consumption, observing and reporting any resident difficulties with eating or tolerating their diet, and communicating effectively with residents to ensure a constantly oriented, therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, under the direction of the unit nurse.
- Ensure proper oral hygiene and assist with dressing and grooming.
- Document food and liquid consumption and observe and report any resident difficulties with eating or tolerating their diet.
- Communicate effectively with residents to ensure a constantly oriented, therapeutic environment.
- Assist with bowel and bladder training, ambulation, and relearning or adapting to new methods for basic activities of daily living.
- Turn and reposition residents to prevent skin breakdown and contractures.
- Perform splinting and restorative ROM as directed by the unit nurse.
- Document on Restorative Flow sheets the duties completed.
- Respond to resident calls and take temperature, pulse, and respiration as directed by the unit nurse.
- Measure intake and output on residents as directed and record and report the findings appropriately.
- Collect urine specimens as directed by the unit nurse.
- Apply splints as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Perform postmortem care and participate in behavior modification programs as established by the facility.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly unit and assist with ordering supplies.
- Must be enrolled in the State's CNA Registry.
- Less than high school education or up to one year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
