As a Controls Engineer at BW Design Group, you'll be part of a team challenging you and positioning you for growth. Key Responsibilities
- Support capital projects by implementing solutions to improve client performance and achieve their most important goals.
- Develop automation solutions and participate in project phases, including design specifications, software configuration, testing, commissioning, and start-up of various automated manufacturing processes.
- Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements.
- Create detailed work plans to execute assigned projects.
- Mentor less experienced professionals to grow the team.
- Collaborate with clients' technical experts and articulate project status.
- Diagnose automation problems.
- Interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
- Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications.
- Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, GE, Siemens) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).
- Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders.
- Manage project deliverables to agreed schedules and scopes.
- Supervise site construction and installation.
- Participate in site start-up support of integrated control systems.
- Make an impact daily with skills and expertise, strengthening relationships with clients and the team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A track record of proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high-intensity environments.
- At least six years of direct experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes/system integration in process controls for Oil & Gas, Energy, Advanced Technology, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Experience in creating and designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA).
- Experience in developing and coding programs for PLCs and DCS platforms (GE, Rockwell, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta V, etc.).
- Experience collaborating with less experienced engineers and mentoring them.
- A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A).
- A solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C).
- A solid understanding of engineering documentation (P&IDs, process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, Control Narratives, Sequence Of Operation).
- Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration.
- Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design.
- Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations.
- A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start-up activities, client meetings, trainings, industry-related seminars, forums, and conventions.
- A bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or similar technical fields (preferred). A master's degree would be beneficial.
