Job Overview

As a Nurse Anesthetist at Tufts Medicine, you will provide high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests.
  2. Develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans, considering patient-specific factors and medical conditions.
  3. Administer general and regional anesthetics, monitor patients' responses, and adjust anesthesia plans as needed.
  4. Provide post-anesthetic care, including pain management and monitoring for potential complications.
  5. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  6. Participate in the education and training of student nurse anesthetists and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • Nurse Anesthetist licensure.
  • American Association of Nurse Anesthetists certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • One year of critical care nursing experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged standing and walking.
  • Lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring patients and equipment.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise, and possible radiation exposure.
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases and other transmissible infections.
  • Contact with patients under various circumstances.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Handle emergency and crisis situations.
  • May have contact with hazardous materials.
