WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday; 7 AM to 4 PM
LOCATION: On-site role in the Wheeling Buffalo Grove area
The Production Operations Leader is tasked with ensuring that all products manufactured and distributed meet the highest standards of safety and quality. This role involves developing and maintaining comprehensive manufacturing processes that encompass Production, Safety, Facilities, Materials, and Logistics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee manufacturing operations to meet objectives related to product quality, timely delivery, inventory control, profitability, and productivity.
- Continuously monitor factory operations, addressing issues and escalating as necessary.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 30-40 direct and indirect reports.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies and equipment for production schedules.
- Guide the materials team in effective inventory management and cost reduction while ensuring material availability.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor product categories.
- Implement annual operating plans (AOP) to achieve profit targets.
- Drive productivity enhancements across all product lines.
- Collaborate with the continuous improvement team to implement LEAN manufacturing practices.
- Participate in and support Lean Kaizen events.
- Develop and promote safety programs throughout the facility.
- Engage actively on the production floor, interacting with leaders and operational staff.
- Work closely with engineering teams to resolve production and equipment challenges.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with production shift leads.
- Utilize JDE and ERP systems to track improvements and support decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to enhance ergonomics in manufacturing processes.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for equipment and tooling.
- Coordinate work schedules and manage vacation requests based on production needs.
- Regularly communicate company updates and seek employee feedback.
- Review and update training materials and oversee employee training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Production, Operations, Business Management, or Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with increasing responsibilities.
- At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in assembly and fabrication processes.
- 3 years of experience in managing production, materials, and planning.
- Demonstrated success in process development and improvement.
- Proven leadership skills and team-building capabilities.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and Lean methodologies.
- Strong budgeting and KPI monitoring skills.
- Analytical abilities for data reporting and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ISO standards.
Preferred Qualifications: Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt), experience with JDE, ADP, Kronos, Dimensions, Power-Bi, Excel, and WMS Systems. Previous experience in automation and assembly lines is highly advantageous.
