Production Assembly Technician

Position Overview
The Production Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in the assembly of new and replacement components by operating various stations and machinery to create complete units or intricate subassemblies based on electrical schematics.
Selection Process
Internal candidates will be evaluated through an interview process that considers skill set, attitude, and overall attendance.
Work Schedule
This position operates on a schedule of 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, working three days one week and four days the next. While the shift hours remain consistent, the working days will rotate, providing every other weekend off (Sunday, Saturday, Monday).
Key Responsibilities

- All employees are expected to understand and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Meet daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct assembly operations for electronic components or subassemblies.
- Independently monitor and operate production equipment, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any discrepancies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment, workspaces, and facilities according to 5S standards.
- Load and unload materials using appropriate handling equipment.
- Uphold quality standards by following inspection procedures and adhering to current quality control policies.
- Assemble cell pairs and modules utilizing hand tools, power tools, or automated machinery (e.g., crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, lifting hoists).
- Interpret and understand technical plans and diagrams related to battery specifications and requirements.
- Measure electrical characteristics such as voltage, current, and resistance using multimeters, voltmeters, and ammeters.
- Assemble components in accordance with approved work instructions.
- May involve the installation of multi-level subassemblies and modules into pallets.
- Utilize appropriate hold tags to manage defective parts in compliance with nonconforming material procedures.
- Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices and facilitate 5S standards in the production area.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety, Health & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift moderately heavy items up to 35 lbs.
- Repetitive use of hands and wrists is required.
- This role involves a moderate to high level of standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling, as well as close visual work and reaching, pulling, or pushing.
- Personal protective equipment is mandatory.
- Capability to operate and multitask across 2 to 3 stations.
- Physical agility to crouch, bend, kneel, lift, carry, and reach in various spaces.
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to discern color and depth variations.
- All employees must comply with BorgWarner's safety policies and procedures.

Education & Experience
Education: High School diploma or GED is required, or a basic skills assessment.
Experience:
- Preferred: 1+ year in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a fast-paced industrial lean setting is advantageous.
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with hand tools, both powered and manual, is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting machinery and equipment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters and resistance testers is preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge is required to perform this job effectively.
