Job Summary:

The Progressive and Intermediate Care Registered Nurse RN coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for post CABG, LVAD, and cardiac, liver, and kidney transplantation patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for cardiac and medical step-down patients, including post CABG, post heart, liver, or kidney transplantation, post neurosurgery, and VAD patients.
  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

Requirements:

  • Licensure as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
  • PC skills.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
