Position Overview:

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves as a vital support to healthcare providers in delivering essential primary care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the confidentiality of patient and organizational information;
  • Conducts initial assessments of patients;
  • Prepares patients for medical examinations and treatments;
  • Assists in gathering and documenting relevant clinical and social information through patient interactions and physical evaluations;
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments according to established protocols;
  • Registers patients, manages records, and prioritizes care needs. Ensures that electronic medical records are accurate and complete;
  • Collects specimens as required;
  • Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs);
  • Provides education to patients and guidance on self-care practices;
  • Orders necessary medical supplies to maintain a smooth patient flow;
  • Facilitates referrals, including scheduling, follow-up notifications, and retrieval of reports;
  • Supports the primary care management of individuals and families by maintaining tracking systems and logs;
  • Possesses knowledge of childhood vaccination protocols;
  • Accurately documents and codes all services rendered within designated time frames;
  • Participates in in-service training and professional development programs.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a pediatric outpatient environment.
  • Maintains an up-to-date license on file.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
