About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Cook to join our Sushi department at Wegmans Food Markets. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading a team of prep and line cooks, ensuring the development and education of our culinary staff, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of prep and line cooks, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful operation of the Sushi department.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our culinary staff.
  • Monitor and maintain the highest standards of quality and service, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional dining experiences.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including inventory management, menu planning, and staff scheduling.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and execution of our culinary vision.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working as a prep and/or line cook in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Experience leading a team and managing day-to-day operations.
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant products and services.
  • Knife skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience making sushi and other types of Japanese cuisine.
  • Highly proficient with cutting and working with whole fish.
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts.
