The Medical Assistant (MA) Float role is designed to facilitate direct patient care and provide essential clinical assistance to healthcare providers within our medical practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient follow-up calls and handle prescription refill requests efficiently.
- Administer medications and injections under the supervision of Physicians/Providers.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, nebulizer treatments, ear irrigations, and other clinical procedures as directed by the Physician/Provider.
- Conduct in-office laboratory tests such as glucose monitoring, strep throat screenings, pregnancy evaluations, urinalysis, and HgA1c testing under the guidance of the physician/provider.
- Ensure proper sterilization of instruments for minor procedures/surgeries in accordance with CDC standards.
- Maintain all required certifications and licenses as necessary for the position.
Qualifications:
Upon employment, candidates will participate in clinical competency evaluations and must complete an MA orientation or externship, along with any additional training required by the Provider.
- A High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency is mandatory.
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly in managing confidential information, is crucial.
- Completion of Basic Life Support and other relevant advanced training within 90 days, along with prior experience in a medical office/clinic performing clinical MA tasks.
- Candidates with certification from the National Health Career Association (NHA) or those who have completed an MA educational program but are not yet certified are also considered eligible.
