Job Summary:

This Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) role plays a vital part in providing exceptional care and service to our residents. As a CNA, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our guests, while upholding the highest standards of care and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to residents, promoting their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Develop and maintain individualized care plans, working closely with the care planning team to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Attend to individual needs, such as incontinent care, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communication, and other needs.
  • Perform various tasks assigned by the floor nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens.
  • Assist the Wound Care Nurse as directed.
  • Complete documentation of care provided or other information in PCC, maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures.
  • Apply hand washing principles, demonstrate understanding of isolation and standard precautions, and recognize signs and symptoms of infection.
  • Assist with the training of new staff members and maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and courteously, and assist with new admissions, re-admissions, and transfers.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors, promoting a caring environment.
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents, and protect their personal belongings.
  • Lift, move, and transport residents using proper body mechanics or lifting devices, and use wheelchairs, slide boards, walkers, and canes as required.
  • Assist and escort residents for appointments, participate in activities, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services as requested, and participate in continuing education programs to maintain professional certification or licensure.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Michigan Certified Nurse Aide Certification or completion of a Michigan-approved CNA training program and eligibility to test within 4 months of hire.
  • One year of experience in long-term care, hospice, or healthcare desired (not required).
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
  • Verbal communication skills to interact with residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and good attendance.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for residents and coworkers.
  • Ability to transport residents and equipment as needed.
