Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The role involves collaborating with another Electrician within a multi-faceted campus environment. Responsibilities include responding to service requests, executing work orders, and conducting preventative maintenance on a diverse range of electrical apparatus. You will set objectives to gain a comprehensive understanding of both normal and emergency power distribution systems across the campus. Tasks may encompass the replacement, repair, and upkeep of electrical systems related to the building. Familiarity with Fire Life/Safety systems is advantageous. The position may also require interaction with other departments concerning control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, and additional mechanical systems. The job entails handling heavy equipment and may be performed in extreme temperature conditions. Immediate action is required to address emergency situations or system failures, and oversight of assigned utility mechanics is expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all associated electrical systems.
  • Adherence to NFPA70e standards.
  • Implementing safety protocols through "Lock Out / Tag Out" procedures.
  • Installation or repair of electrical circuits.
  • Upgrading light fixtures to LED as necessary.
  • Performing minor electrical tasks, including bulb and ballast replacements.
  • Routine operation and inspection of emergency generators and related components.
  • Requesting necessary materials for repairs.
  • Conducting routine and preventive maintenance, both independently and with vendor assistance.
  • Inspecting electrical systems, tracing circuits, operating switchgear, documenting inspections, and reporting to supervisors.
  • Carrying out additional duties as required within the scope of contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in relevant Electrical Trades or Trade School disciplines (e.g., Electrical / Electrical Maintenance Tech / Journeyman).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a commercial environment, specifically with electrical, emergency power, and/or electronic systems.
  • Experience in Data Centers is preferred.
  • Proven ability to repair building electrical components and systems.
  • Experience in safely securing electrical systems for maintenance.
  • Proficient in using a multimeter.
  • Strong understanding of building auxiliary systems, including fire-life safety and standby emergency generators.
  • Familiarity with general building systems, such as vertical lift equipment and overhead doors.
  • Valid driver's license and driving skills for vehicles up to 1-1/2-ton trucks.
  • In-depth knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Skilled in the safe and effective use of various hand and power tools.

Shift: 1st or 3rd shift
