Role Summary:
The Surgical Anesthesia Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with the care and monitoring of patients receiving anesthesia during surgical procedures. This position involves supervising and training junior staff, managing operational tasks, and providing technical support to the anesthesia team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced support in the care and monitoring of patients under anesthesia, including the use of major anesthesia monitors and machines for various anesthesia types.
- Assist with airway management techniques, including tracheal intubation and ventilatory support.
- Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment, ensuring optimal functionality of monitors, machines, and other related devices.
- Prepare anesthesia apparatus for a variety of surgical cases, including complex procedures.
- Conduct thorough checks and setups of specialty anesthesia equipment.
- Manage inventory and restock anesthesia supplies in operating rooms.
- Provide guidance and assistance to staff regarding equipment issues and operational challenges.
- Oversee the training and development of lower-level personnel, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Anesthesia Supervisor.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting involving anesthesia equipment.
- Two years of experience comparable to that of an Anesthesia Assistant is preferred.
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technician.
