Position Overview

The Mixologist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional experiences that align with the mission and overall success of Sonesta International Hotels. This position involves setting up, serving, and maintaining the bar area to ensure high standards of quality, consistency, and service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guest Interaction: Welcome patrons warmly as they approach the bar; promote signature drinks and utilize upselling techniques to enhance revenue.
  • Beverage Preparation: Craft beverages as requested by guests. Follow established pouring standards and recipes to ensure a consistent product while managing costs. Collaborate with restaurant staff for food service to bar guests as needed.
  • Monitoring Service: Observe guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when to discontinue service; inform management of any incidents involving excessive consumption or impaired guests; verify identification for age verification when necessary.
  • Service Recovery: Notify management of any service or safety concerns. Implement appropriate recovery gestures according to established guidelines to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Bar Setup: Prepare the bar with all necessary liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies. Perform pre- and post-shift tasks such as managing ice bins, preparing garnishes, and restocking snacks.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct inventory of unused liquor and beverages. Ensure all liquor is securely stored before, during, and after shifts.
  • Cash Handling: Manage the bartender's bank; process cash and credit transactions from customers; provide accurate change and balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
  • Cleanliness Standards: Inspect the bar daily for cleanliness and appeal; ensure all equipment is functioning properly. Clean the bar area, including floors, counters, and furniture, at the end of each shift.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster teamwork and quality service through effective communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Basic reading, writing, and math skills are essential. Familiarity with various liquor brands, beers, wines, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments is required. Formal bartending training is preferred. Candidates must meet state legal age requirements and possess fluent English language skills.
  • OLCC Certification Required
  • Food Handlers Certification Required
This role requires the ability to:
  • Handle, carry, or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds (bar equipment, carts, boxes, bottles, etc.).
  • Move throughout the bar, lounge, and kitchen areas.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and lift as necessary.
