Job Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in providing rehabilitative services to individuals with physical, emotional, or developmental impairments. Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA assists in implementing treatment plans designed to help patients achieve their maximum potential and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in carrying out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, utilizing therapeutic techniques and interventions to promote patient independence and functional abilities.
  • Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADLs) training, and functional mobility exercises.
  • Educate patients and their families about the therapeutic process and techniques to continue progress at home.
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Accurately document patient treatment sessions, progress notes, and any changes in patient status.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Valid state licensure or registration as required by state law.
