Job Title: Dentist

We are seeking a skilled Dentist to join our team at CoreCivic. As a Dentist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to inmates/residents in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine dental treatments, including examinations, fillings, extractions, and cleanings.
  • Diagnose and develop treatment plans for inmates/residents.
  • Develop and supervise the facility dental program, including advising and instructing inmates/residents on dental health.
  • Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise subordinate staff.
  • Consult with other healthcare staff and coordinate specialized or emergency dental care as needed.
  • Control and inventory medications, syringes, dental instruments, and other dental supplies or equipment.
  • Keep work areas clean and use appropriate sanitation and infection control methods.
  • Prepare and maintain dental files and records.
  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all dental records.
  • Monitor the provision of contract services and coordinate professional dental services performed by external providers.
  • Screen requests for records and approve/disapprove responses as appropriate.
  • Provide input for facility dental budget requests.
  • Identify financial responsibility for incurred expenses.
  • Complete logs of dental billings and assist the business office with reviewing billings.
  • Evaluate and recommend methods for improving operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of dental services.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved school of dentistry and licensure as a dentist in the state of employment.
  • At least one year of experience preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of correctional custody methods and techniques, pertinent facility rules, regulations, and standards.
