This role is essential in supporting the Food and Nutrition Team by preparing food and meal items in a safe and sanitary environment.

Work Schedule:
Shifts may vary, typically ranging from early morning to evening hours, including weekends as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately measures, mixes, and prepares ingredients following approved recipes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, ovens, and steamers.
  • Exhibits consistent knife skills including chopping, slicing, dicing, and paring.
  • Prepares and presents menu items for café, patient, and catering services in accordance with established recipes and standards.
  • Creates sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, and desserts that meet dietary guidelines.
  • Safely cooks various proteins using methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, and carves meats into appropriate servings.
  • Monitors and records temperatures of food items throughout the service period.
  • Tests food for doneness and adjusts cooking temperatures as necessary to ensure quality.
  • Delivers flavorful and visually appealing food presentations.
  • Modifies ingredients or seasonings only upon direction from the culinary leader.
  • Maintains product levels and the appearance of service stations.
  • Consults with management regarding the handling of leftovers.
  • Adheres to infection control and HACCP practices consistently.
  • Completes daily temperature logs and production sheets accurately, assisting supervisors with necessary corrections.
  • Keeps the kitchen and workstations organized and safe.
  • Efficiently manages work schedules to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Monitors cooking equipment and communicates with management for any required repairs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management based on operational needs.
