POSITION SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage staffing levels by coordinating the dispatch of operators and filling vacancies as needed.
  • Ensure seamless service delivery by addressing operational disruptions and maintaining communication with staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to operators, documenting performance and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures to uphold service standards.
  • Evaluate operator performance, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and organizational policies.
  • Maintain constant communication with management regarding operational status and personnel matters.
  • Document attendance and performance metrics for all operators.
  • Compile and distribute daily operational reports to relevant departments.
  • Facilitate the seniority-based assignment process in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Coordinate time-off requests and ensure compliance with established protocols.
  • Conduct regular inspections of transit facilities and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • Utilize communication systems to maintain contact with operators and manage service recovery efforts.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents involving agency vehicles, coordinating necessary responses and documentation.
  • Maintain operational files for the Intelligent Transportation System.
  • Assist the public in navigating the transportation system effectively.
  • Support customer service initiatives by managing access ride scheduling.
  • Oversee compliance with drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Address customer feedback and conduct thorough investigations into complaints.
  • Develop and implement detour plans as necessary, ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues with transit vehicles and facilities.
  • Provide transportation services in emergencies as required.
  • Assist in the development of routes and schedules as needed.
  • Participate in training programs for new operators.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

Supervise and evaluate the performance of transit operators, providing necessary training and addressing disciplinary matters in line with organizational policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a combination of education and experience that includes:

  • A minimum age of 21 years.
  • An Associate's Degree along with three years of supervisory experience, preferably in a public transit environment.
  • At least one year of experience as a coach operator or operations supervisor.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with transit operations and service areas.
  • Proficient in computer applications and data management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and operational policies.
  • Ability to assess training needs and implement effective learning strategies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, moving, and operating vehicles. Regular communication with staff and customers is essential.
