Job Description

We are currently hiring for Hospital Custodians to join our team at Harborview Medical Center. These temporary full-time positions are benefits-eligible and anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration.

As a Hospital Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices. This includes:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
  • Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant.
  • Empties/relines wastebaskets, regulated medical waste containers, and recycle containers.
  • Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure.
  • Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors.
  • Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure.
  • Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors.

You will also be expected to follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, personal protective apparel, supplies, and equipment, as well as report the need for repair and/or maintenance of furniture or equipment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Physical ability to do required work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Estimated Salary Range
