Position Overview

Role Summary: We are in search of a dedicated professional to oversee the peer review process for one of our esteemed journals at RSNA. This role includes managing the peer review team, coordinating manuscript progress with the Managing Editor and Editor, assigning reviewers, and engaging with authors, reviewers, and Deputy Editors. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the peer review operations for one RSNA journal (Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging), managing team performance, ensuring deadlines are met, and fostering team development. Provide support across all facets of the peer review process.
  2. Act as the primary liaison for the Editor and Managing Editor concerning peer review activities. Organize and participate in regular meetings while maintaining proactive communication regarding manuscript statuses.
  3. Identify and invite suitable reviewers for submitted manuscripts via ScholarOne, collaborating closely with peer review managers.
  4. Ensure thorough preparation and follow-up for Deputy Editor meetings.
  5. Continuously monitor submission queues and overdue reports to ensure timely processing of manuscripts, sending reminders to team members and editors as necessary.
  6. Engage regularly with fellow Senior Peer Review Managers to maintain uniformity in peer review practices. Recommend workflow enhancements and collaborate with the Assistant Director to implement changes in ScholarOne.
  7. Generate reports from the peer review system as required.
  8. Contribute to additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with ScholarOne Manuscripts or a comparable peer review system
  • Proficiency in the current Microsoft Office suite
  • Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and analytical abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to work autonomously and lead initiatives
  • Prior experience in supervising or training staff is preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly in cardiothoracic imaging, is advantageous
