This Behavioral Health and Addiction treatment facility in Southeastern Pennsylvania has immediate needs for Behavioral Health travel nurses. Three 12-hour day shifts per week with a 36-hour weekly guarantee. Candidates will need at least 1 year of experience in a similar acute setting, BLS, CPI, and a PA license. Please note that COVID-19 vaccination is required, and boosters are also necessary. Medical exemptions are allowed for severe reactions, which must be documented by a doctor and submitted to the facility for approval.

The facility has a low-violence environment, with patients typically not posing a threat to staff. However, noncompliant patients may be removed from the campus. The facility has a code white crisis team available. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:15, with 1-2 Psych techs on each unit. The facility has 4 units: 2 Psych and 2 Detox units. Required certifications include BLS and CPI. The facility can certify nurses in CPI onsite. Required experience is 1 year in a similar setting. Patient populations include large indigent populations, with admissions referred directly. The facility provides BLS but no other medical care.

Job Duties:

  • Admissions (no admissions overnight)
  • Med pass (patients come to the desk)
  • Assessments
  • Leading groups (mainly medication education)

Experience or 'Must have' skills:

  • Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and addictions counselors)
  • Comfortable with rehab patients walking the campus

The facility has a 24/7 Charge Nurse and a 24/7 Nursing Supervisor who covers the entire campus. The facility uses physical restraints if necessary, with a restraint team available. The facility has a low-violence environment, with patients typically not posing a threat to staff. However, noncompliant patients may be removed from the campus. The facility has a code white crisis team available.

Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 2 days

Additional Notes: Communication and compassion are essential for this role. The CEO frequently visits the campus as a 'secret shopper,' and nurses will be monitored. This is not a high-acuity facility, but rather a very easy position that requires a motivated traveler. The facility is dedicated to removing stigma around mental health and addiction.
