Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Brattleboro Retreat. As a key member of our psychiatric unit, you will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to identify individual and group needs, and develop effective interventions to meet the complex needs of our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and provide clinical supervision to Mental Health Workers to ensure safe and therapeutic delivery of care.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, implement, and evaluate patient/family care, providing nursing care that meets patients' needs and adheres to organizational and departmental policies.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu in assigned care areas, adhering to and implementing organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Intervene in crisis situations by assessing the milieu, targeting potential crisis situations, and intervening in a calm and supportive manner, utilizing verbal and physical interventions as needed.
  • Document crisis situations and perform constant observations, intermittent observations, and other patient safety procedures as assigned.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the multidisciplinary plan of care for assigned patients, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and other hospital department representatives through verbal reports and written communication.
  • Deliver education to patients and families as needed, and participate in Performance Improvement activities within assigned areas.
Requirements:
  • State of Vermont licensed registered nurse.
  • Preferred one year psychiatric nursing experience or two years general nursing experience.
