Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team in Dunn Loring, Virginia.

Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist will administer sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure the safety of patients. The ideal candidate will complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations, demonstrate radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self, and maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition.

Responsibilities
  • Administer high-quality mammography exams using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance/interpretation of examinations.
  • Assist the physician in performing a variety of examinations by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations.
  • Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them while producing the most desirable outcomes.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Radiologic Technologist - Mammography within 12 months of hire, Basic Life Support upon start, American Registered Radiologic Technologists upon start, Radiologic Technologist-Mammo ARRT 12 months upon acceptance of the offer.
  • Licensure: Licensed Radiologic Technologist Within 12 Months - required for all INOVA nonhospital Licensed centers, but not required if working onsite at an Inova Hospital.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Education: Vocational / Technical Radiology - Graduate of an accredited school of radiography, AART required.
