Statistical Analyst Position

About the Role



We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Quality Control Team at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE).



The Quality Control Team ensures the transparency and replicability of the Institute's research products by thoroughly reviewing data accuracy, verifying methodologies, and replicating findings.



This enables other researchers to easily reproduce, verify, and build upon our statistical results, maintaining the Institute's reputation for high-quality, accurate, and transparent analysis.



Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include reviewing and assuring the accuracy and replicability of analytic research products, advising research staff on statistical standards, data sources, and econometric/data management techniques, and raising awareness of terms of use of data and copyright obligations.



Additionally, the successful candidate will assist with the training and onboarding of new research staff and Quality Control Team members.



Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in Statistics, Economics, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a quantitative discipline with relevant experience.



At least one year of experience in data management, quality control/assurance, and/or data analytics is required, or a bachelor's degree in Economics with two years of relevant experience.



Skills and Knowledge

The successful candidate will be proficient in computer software and data management tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and will have proficiency in Stata, with limited working proficiency in Python and/or R.



Able to communicate data replication standards verbally and electronically with research staff, the ideal candidate will also have a preference for knowledge of EViews, MATLAB/Octave, VBA, Bloomberg, and/or Macrobond.
