As a Patient Care Specialist in our Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families. Key Responsibilities- Assist Patients with Daily Activities: Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as turning and repositioning patients to prevent skin breakdown and promote comfort.
- Provide Patient Care as Delegated by the RN: Provide patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse, including sterile and non-sterile soaks, application of dressings, perineal care, removal of foley catheters, basic ostomy care, and other delegated tasks.
- Collect and Document Patient Data: Collect and document patient data, including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic and sterile specimen collection, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Support the Care Team: Run errands, answer telephones, and respond to call lights to support the care team and ensure seamless patient care.
- Perform Point of Care Testing: Perform point of care testing as trained and delegated by the RN, and report lab values to the RN.
- Provide Comfort and Pain Management: Provide and document comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures to promote patient comfort and well-being.
- Education: Completion of a Patient Care Technician program (post high school)
- Experience: No previous experience required
- Licensures: Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
