Job Overview

Objective:

This role is designed for an entry to mid-level technical professional who will play a crucial part in the maintenance of ship-to-shore cranes within a vibrant and fast-paced industrial setting at a prominent marine stevedoring terminal. The technician will deliver field support, conduct analysis, and manage projects related to the installation, upkeep, and repair of Operational Technology devices integrated into heavy machinery and associated support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of annual safety initiatives by monitoring compliance and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Provide expert technical assistance regarding Operational Technology devices to a unionized workforce.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT department and equipment manufacturers to identify, address, and track vulnerabilities in OT devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with OT equipment and infrastructure, proposing effective corrective measures.
  • Maintain accurate and current OT topology diagrams.
  • Conduct regular inspections of container handling machinery and workshops, documenting deficiencies and suggesting remedies.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure the cleaning and maintenance of cameras, scanners, and related OT equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee assigned projects, developing budgets and monitoring progress.
  • Assist in creating technical specifications for electrical and communication networks for new equipment acquisitions.
  • Contribute to the design and specification process for various projects.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide technical support as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) and successfully complete the Port Access Card licensing process.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and climb ladders.
  • Capability to work at heights up to 200 feet in a safe manner.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and networking schematics.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with networking principles and hardware.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to ensure clarity in specifications and expectations.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 2D/3D Computer-Aided Design systems.
  • Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent.
  • Background in Computer Networking and Cyber Security.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with maintenance management systems.
