Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Patients for Examination
    • Explain procedures and set up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
    • Ensure that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained.
    • Screen for pregnancy.
  • Perform CT Procedures
    • Prepare patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry.
    • Enter patient history and other pertinent information obtained from requisition completed by Radiologist to include anatomical area of interest.
    • Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment.
    • Calculate number of scans to obtain based on patient size.
    • Operate CT ensuring required images are obtained as ordered by Radiologist.
  • Administer Intravenous (IV) and Oral Contrast Agents
    • Verify there are no contraindications to administration of IV contrast agent.
    • Calculate contrast dose based on patient's weight.
    • Perform venipuncture of appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
    • Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast, and complete the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy.
    • Utilize appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed.
  • Perform Related Duties
    • Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in IV contrast administration.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration in Computed Tomography R.T. (CT)(ARRT).
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS).
  • Previous CT experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of CT equipment and protocols required.
