Customer Service Representative Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team at Barnes & Noble Education, Inc. As a key member of our retail operations, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, supporting store leaders, and contributing to the overall success of our campus stores.

Job Summary:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to customers, answering questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with processing sales transactions, including cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
  • Support store leaders in all facets of retail operations, ensuring the store is operating at optimal performance.
  • Participate in visual merchandising, maintaining a visually appealing store environment and ensuring products are properly displayed and stocked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, exceeding customer expectations and building strong relationships.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling returns, exchanges, and refunds as needed.
  • Support store leaders in managing inventory, receiving shipments, and maintaining store appearance.
  • Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, promotions, and events, sharing information with customers and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Basic math skills, keyboarding, and data entry experience preferred.
