COMPENSATION OVERVIEW:

POSITION SUMMARY
This role is designed to support fleet maintenance technicians in ensuring that vehicles are safe, dependable, and cost-effective. The position involves learning to conduct quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as diagnosing and addressing issues to minimize breakdowns on the road, reduce vehicle downtime, and enhance overall fleet reliability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct necessary inspections and preventive maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment (including Tractors, Trailers, Converter Dollies, Lift Gates, and Light Duty Vehicles) to ensure maximum safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle.
- Perform thorough preventive maintenance inspections according to company standards on all fleet vehicles, ensuring quality repairs are made to maintain safety and reliability.
- Carry out maintenance repairs on all vehicles, including inspections, scheduled repairs, and emergency road-call repairs, ensuring all work is performed safely and efficiently. Address all vehicle inspection report issues promptly and accurately, diagnosing malfunctions and executing repairs to manufacturer specifications.
- Document all maintenance activities in the Work Order system (SAP) using the Complaint, Cause, and Correction format.
- Develop proficiency in all maintenance-related computer programs utilized by the company.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Technical Training Program (2-year)
- Knowledge of Annual Inspector Certification
- Knowledge of Brake Inspector Certification
- ASE Certification in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty
- Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic software for OEM and component manufacturers
- 1 year of experience with a 2-Year Technical Degree or
- 3 years of experience in Fleet Maintenance and Repair
- Valid Driver's License; CDL-A preferred
- Basic understanding of all vehicle systems and components
- Fundamental skills in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on all equipment
- Basic welding and cutting skills (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
- Ability to meet physical demands such as standing, walking, using hands, climbing, and bending
- Vision capabilities including close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception
- Ability to assess the roadworthiness of equipment and ensure compliance with DOT regulations before returning it to operational use.
- Collaborate with management to establish a prioritized work schedule for fleet equipment, considering operational needs and preventive maintenance compliance.
