We are currently seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist to join our HII Nuclear, Maritime Operations Team at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA. This role involves advanced industrial hygiene practices to assess, manage, and mitigate workplace hazards across various operations. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance, lead safety initiatives, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, supporting employee well-being while enabling operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs to prevent occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and develop corrective actions.
  • Provide training and education to employees on health and safety best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends and technologies in industrial hygiene.

Requirements:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 years of experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or 13 years of experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Proven experience in hazard identification, exposure assessments, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong technical skills in sampling, monitoring, and analytical techniques for environmental health and safety evaluations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in shipyards.
