Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist I to join our team at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. As a key member of our Laboratory Services department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex chemical analyses on water, wastewater, and air samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct chemical analyses and tests using prescribed procedures and operate related equipment.
  • Assist in research studies and investigations of alternative procedures and equipment.
  • Provide technical direction to technicians and laboratory support personnel.
  • Maintain current knowledge of analytical procedures and equipment.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accurate and reliable data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field.
  • One year of experience in chemical analysis, quality control, and statistical techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art chemical laboratory methods, procedures, materials, and equipment.
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Work Environment

The work environment is a laboratory setting with occasional field work. The employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, fumes, and airborne particles, and may be at risk of electric shock.
