About the Role

The Sylvan Learning Center in Columbus, GA is seeking a qualified Tutor/Teacher to join our team. As a Tutor/Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning experience for students by teaching using Sylvan program materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for each instructional session, gathering and preparing materials as needed
  • Engage students and initiate instruction to personally connect with each student
  • Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
  • Manage students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
  • Evaluate and record student progress on program assignments
  • Use praise and encouragement to inspire students to learn
  • Manage the conclusion of each session and support procedures for student safety and well-being
  • Communicate student needs to Center staff
  • Complete certification training on each Sylvan program taught

Requirements

  • Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers: Four-year degree or equivalent, state or provincial teaching credentials, and minimum one or two years of teaching experience
  • Math Program Teachers: Four-year degree in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college-level math
  • SAT/ACT, Test Prep, and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers: Four-year degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of general office equipment and tablet computers
