MHC Healthcare is looking for a Clinical Nutrition Specialist to enhance our Integrated Healthcare teams. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive nutritional evaluations, education, and management for patients who are dealing with or are at risk of various health conditions. The specialist will create and execute personalized care strategies aimed at fostering patient understanding and management of their health, thereby improving their quality of life and clinical outcomes.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) or eligibility for registration as per ACEND guidelines.
  • Must obtain registration within one year of employment and maintain it thereafter.
  • Bachelor's degree from an ACEND-accredited program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained upon hire).
  • First Aid certification (can be obtained upon hire).
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to acquire upon hire).
  • Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required for this clinical role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals regarding patient diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Provide clear explanations of nutritional assessments and necessary health modifications to patients and their families.
  • Educate patients and family members on the safe use of dietary supplements, formulas, and dietary plans.
  • Monitor the progress of high-risk clients.
  • Design individualized meal plans based on medical conditions and social determinants of health.
  • Coordinate patient services and referrals with relevant agencies as needed.
  • Document Nutrition Care Plans accurately.
  • Develop and approve nutrition education materials and protocols.
  • Act as a liaison with public and governmental agencies regarding nutrition and program services.
  • Contribute to the formulation of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in creating training and educational plans for staff in nutrition.
  • Serve as a mentor for medical and dietetic interns.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for additional staff as required.
  • Support outreach initiatives and clinical programs.
  • Respond to information requests with written or verbal presentations.
  • Engage in professional development through workshops and training sessions.
  • Build rapport and maintain open communication with staff and patients.
  • Deliver nutrition education to individuals or groups.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all patient interactions.
