Diesel Mechanic Lead

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic Lead to join our team. As a key member of our fleet maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our diesel equipment. This role requires a strong technical background in diesel mechanics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
About the Job
As a Diesel Mechanic Lead, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc. You will also perform preventative maintenance within company standards and complete documentation of all repair orders, PM lists, and parts accountability. Additionally, you will handle road service calls, perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed, and maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot and diagnose complex diesel mechanical issues
* Perform preventative maintenance on diesel equipment
* Document repairs and complete maintenance logs
* Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment
* Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have 3 years of commercial diesel mechanic or reefer experience or 2 years of diesel mechanic experience with TK or Refrigeration certification. You should also possess diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs, successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills, prior experience in administering appropriate PM programs, and knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet. A valid driver's license and the ability to read and understand technical and service manuals are also required.
