Position Overview:
The Enterprise Linux/Unix Systems Administrator will be a key member of our esteemed Information Technology Services Division.

The core responsibilities encompass the installation, upgrading, and patching of operating systems; configuring and managing virtual servers; aiding in the setup and maintenance of RAID/SAN/storage solutions; and executing system security measures, including OS hardening and patch management. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively, alongside a commitment to thorough documentation practices.

This is a full-time role.

Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to foster teamwork are essential for success in this position.

The selected candidate will integrate seamlessly with a team of highly skilled Systems Administrators and other IT professionals.


Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive Linux/Unix systems administration support to ensure all systems align with the required specifications.

Proficiently utilize virtualization technologies, including the installation and configuration of VMware; manage and maintain virtual servers and clients.

Demonstrate knowledge of network configuration and security protocols on ESX Hosts.

Conduct investigations, provide analyses, and document Configuration Change Requests (RFCs) in line with established Configuration Management (CM) processes.

Ensure optimal technical operation, maintenance, and support of systems for reliable performance.

Oversee the administration, installation, maintenance, and licensing of systems, including server OS installations, patches, and upgrades.

Install, configure, maintain, and periodically audit necessary packages, updating system documentation as required.

Actively seek updates to vendor packages and communicate or recommend updates to relevant personnel.

Ensure compliance of all systems with security protocols.

Develop and troubleshoot scripts and programs that enhance system utility and provide effective user interfaces to other systems.

Maintain current documentation of UNIX systems, server configurations, administrative tools, and procedures for product and service implementation/adaptation.

Assist colleagues in integrating system modifications and upgrades into existing procedures and documentation.

Additional Desired Skills:
Strong customer service orientation. Understand and address client needs to ensure satisfaction with service requests.

VMware certification is advantageous but not mandatory.

Familiarity with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a plus.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a BS/BA degree (or an MS/MA) in fields such as Computer Science, Computer Systems Administration, or Electrical Engineering, with a focus on computer science, is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, coupled with 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 4 years specializing in AIX/Linux Systems administration, is preferred.
