Probation Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Probation Officer to join our team at Tulare County, CA. As a Probation Officer, you will be responsible for supervising and instructing youth in various vocational, maintenance, and recreational activities. You will also observe, evaluate, and report on the conduct, needs, personality, adjustment, and progress of youth. Additionally, you will take security measures such as patrolling, doing bed checks, and unscheduled head counts, searching facilities and youth for contraband, monitoring phone calls and mail, and investigating suspicious persons and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and instruct youth in various activities
Observe, evaluate, and report on youth conduct and progress
Take security measures to ensure facility and youth safety
Counsel youth exhibiting behavioral, emotional, or school problems
Transport youth to outside appointments and activities
Document various reports and information
Coordinate inventory, cleaning, and supply of clothes and bedding

Requirements:

Equivalent to two years of college, preferably with a major in a behavioral or social science field
Basic indoor and outdoor recreational activities and games
Operation of contemporary office equipment, including computer, keyboard, and electronic equipment
Counseling skills to help resolve personal and interpersonal problems
Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Annual benefit amount of $3,200 plus 5% of annual base salary
