Position Overview
AECOM is seeking a qualified Dam Engineering Project Manager/Technical Lead with a strong background in Hydrology and Hydraulics to enhance our dedicated Dams Engineering practice in the U.S. Mountain Region. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer who supports and expands our dams practice in Hydrologic and Hydraulic engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical execution of projects, including inspection, analysis, design, and compliance activities for various dams and hydraulic structures.
- Conduct hydrologic analyses, including flood frequency estimates and statistical hydrology.
- Model hydraulic structures using one- and two-dimensional approaches, along with spreadsheet calculations.
- Perform dam breach analyses and prepare inundation maps.
- Support dam engineering activities such as risk analyses and emergency action planning.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Review technical deliverables prepared by team members.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Manage project finances and oversee project planning and execution.
- Mentor junior staff and foster their professional growth.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Hydrologic, Hydraulic, or Water Resources Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license in Colorado or ability to obtain within six months.
- 15+ years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic aspects of dam projects.
- 10+ years of project management experience, including budget and schedule management.
- Experience with risk assessments and Potential Failure Mode Analyses related to dam operations.
- Proficiency in software applications such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ESRI ArcMap, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and FLOW-3D.
