Operating Room Surgical Technologist

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Room, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgical team in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning, skin preparation, and draping.
- Maintain aseptic technique and ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in the surgical procedure, including passing instruments, suctioning, and retracting.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or surgical site.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and effective surgical procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required.
- 1-3 years of operating room experience preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA.
- Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of surgical technologist program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a large complex Operating Room.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
