About the Role

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team. As a RN in this unit, you will provide direct nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular surgical patients, including those undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair and replacements, aortic surgeries, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans, including assessing and coordinating patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, including notes and carrying out physician and nursing orders.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
  • If in a Critical Care area, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings.
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred.
Physical Requirements

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
