Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures on patients of all ages, adhering to established protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports.
  • Mount, stain, and examine smears under a microscope to evaluate specimen quality and recommend acceptance or rejection to the pathologist.
  • Maintain effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety.
  • Classify and distinguish abnormal cell structures and report abnormalities to pathologists for further examination.
  • Document data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into the hospital system for patient records.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and place orders for replacements as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science: Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Sciences, required.
  • Completion of Cytotechnology Program, required.
  • Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP), is required.
  • Three years of Clinical Lab experience preferred.
